3:59: Review + Giveaway

3:59Josie Byrne's life is spiraling out of control. Her parents are divorcing, her boyfriend Nick has grown distant, and her physics teacher has it in for her. When she's betrayed by the two people she trusts most, Josie thinks things can't get worse.

Until she starts having dreams about a girl named Jo. Every night at the same time—3:59 a.m.

Jo's life is everything Josie wants: she's popular, her parents are happily married, and Nick adores her. It all seems real, but they're just dreams, right? Josie thinks so, until she wakes one night to a shadowy image of herself in the bedroom mirror – Jo.

Josie and Jo realize that they are doppelgängers living in parallel universes that overlap every twelve hours at exactly 3:59. Fascinated by Jo's perfect world, Josie jumps at the chance to jump through the portal and switch places for a day.

But Jo’s world is far from perfect. Not only is Nick not Jo's boyfriend, he hates her. Jo's mom is missing, possibly insane. And at night, shadowy creatures feed on human flesh.

By the end of the day, Josie is desperate to return to her own life. But there’s a problem: Jo has sealed the portal, trapping Josie in this dangerous world. Can she figure out a way home before it’s too late?

Wow, just wow. This is my first Gretchen McNeil read, but it sure won't be my last!

I have to admit, in the beginning I wasn't very much into this book. The description reminded me alot of Unraveling. Because of the whole alternate universe? However, it has very many different factors in 3: 59, and I really ended up enjoying this book because of that.

Firstly, I really liked Josie, at least when I compared her to Jo, who is kind of a bitch in the majority of the book. She was a pretty smart girl( I wished she would have used her senses a little bit more, perhaps), she was nice, and she was caring. She had alot of qualities in a main character that I almost always love. At times, I really did want to punch her, but I think authors just want me to feel this way.

The romance in this book was surprisingly light. It was always there, but it never really came out until the end-ish area. And let me talk to you about Nick( and I can't tell you which Nick either). He was so, so sweet. Well, definitely not at first, but later..."swoon". He just left me feeling all gushy and warm inside!

My favorite part of this book was the plot. McNeil has the skill to keep me on edge all the time. Literally. After page 200, I could not stop reading this book. The book seemed slow to start, at least for me, but then it all of a sudden got soooo good. The other universe was wicked cool( I really just said that). I will say it has human-eating-monsters that I loved, because it is what kept me hiding my eyes at certain parts. And some of the other characters in the alternate universe, were evil I say! Not at first, but they certainly changed my mind later in the novel. It seemed I got most of the characters wrong at first. "sign"

The ending seemed very open-ended, which makes me wonder if there will be a sequel. It wasn't an ending where I was really pissed at the author for making it end there, but it definitely left me curious.

A HUGE Thank You To My Followers!

This title totally gives away what topic I'm talking about today. Uh-huh, I'm talking about you there, the person staring at the computer screen( or I suppose, an iphone). I don't nearly enough thank my followers, the people who make me want to write these posts. I know, I know. Most bloggers say that they would blog even without readers or followers. That doesn't go for me. My followers and readers are what makes blogging fun, communicating with bookish people/nerds. That is my reason for starting this blog, so I can spread the joy.

Every comment I receive, I literally smile, because that means that people are taking time to read my posts, however lame they are. Megan @ The Book Brats was talking recently about popularity. She was saying that she finally felt okay with being just ordinary. I don't know how, but Megan can always tell exactly what I'm feeling sometimes( like talking about being jealous, for another example). That post made me realize that it doesn't matter if you have 2 million followers. It doesn't matter if you get 200,000 unique page views a month. It just matters that you have readers, even only 1, to at least read your posts.

I most want to thank the readers who happened upon my blog, and found my posts somewhat entertaining. Who clicked subscribe or follow, because you actually enjoy reading the good ole blog. I usually don't do giveaways. Mainly, because then I have a whole bunch of followers that don't actually like my posts, just my giveaways. I'd prefer just to say to leave a comment or a free entry.(A few months ago, I would shamelessly do giveaway hops just to get more followers. I feel so bad now.)So, even if you followed me for a giveaway and still read my posts, then I am so thankful to you. You really don't know how much I love seeing getting one more follower. Every new RSS follower, every new e-mail subscriber, just EVERYTHING! Even if you don't follow me, even if you're just reading my posts, thank you!

Thank you a million times, reader! I love love love you for taking the time to comment or read my posts!

(Okay, okay, I am finished now.)(I had too much fun with this.)

A Story To Tell

This is another totally random post, but you're probably used to it by now, anyways. This post is about a story that is so weird, that I had to share it online.

Picture this: It was last summer, and my mom had just left( she didn't go far, don't worry). My twin and my little sister were watching tv, and I can't remember what I was doing( probably watching tv or reading a book). All of a sudden, we heard some of our dogs barking and that immediately meant that someone was in our driveway. We all ran to the window and found the weirdest looking car in the planet. It was tiny, very  low height and size to it.(It was also a bizarre color that I can't remember.) In it, were also the weirdest people in it. Not to be rude, but the lady in the passenger seat was gigantic, and the man driving it was very stout. He was scary looking though, he looked like he could be a kidnapper or robber, not even lying. So, like any smart person, I called my mom, but she didn't pick up.

The man had started walking towards our house, and I was freaking out! Because I was the oldest in the house at the moment, my sisters were like "You're going out there!". I did, and I was terrified of the guy.

He started telling me that his car had broken something, and he needed a stick to secure it. However, it had to be a specific stick, the right shape and size. I was kinda just like, "sure?".

For some reason, I started looking for the sticks, and was asking him if this stick would be fine and the likes. Thank god, he finally found the right "stick". I was super excited to see him gone.(Did I also mention he called me "sweetie"?) I was totally creeped out by him.

At last, he came to me, and he just gave me ten bucks for my "hard work". And then I was like "Whoooo". Only, it was in my head. He left, and then everything resumed to normal.

There is my weird story, and now you know how really badly I tell stories.
